PROJECT MANAGER - Aircraft

6-12 Month Contract 

Job Description:

The Aircraft Project Engineer is capable of managing all aspects of multiple large internal or external Integrated Product Team (IPT) projects through the engineering lifecycle including project plans, budgets, resources and delivery of outcomes. Implements project management best practices to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and meet the overall project objectives. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Manage all aspects of multiple internal or external IPT projects through the engineering lifecycle including project plans, budgets, resources and delivery of outcomes.

Provide timely reports to upper management to ensure an understanding of project status and performance. Prepare interim and completion project reports.  

Hold regular cross-functional IPT project meetings to review and update project schedule and delivery, risks, issues, actions status, logistics, resources, and objectives. Assure early problem identification and implementation of corrective action.

Frame issues, leverage strategic priorities and drive project IPT teams towards a common view of the project critical path and best path forward.  

Ensure all project plans are up to date with respect to project planning, scope, scheduling, cost estimations and status by adhering to defined ATS playbook processes, procedures, and applications.  

Leads negotiations with project participants and stakeholders on significant project issues.  

Analyze factors leading to project success and failure and make recommendations for future improvements or changes. Researches lessons learned, best practices, risk assessments and trends, earned value and analysis as a foundation for baseline plans.  

Actively participate in project proposals development, reviews and plans to determine technical practicality, timeframe, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, resource requirements and apportion available resources to project objectives.  

Perform IPT reviews and technical coordination meetings providing technical input as required.  

Take a proactive stance by developing contingency plans in potential risk areas and identifying contingency plan deployment criteria to resolve potential problems. Report potential problems to upper management.  

Ensure pertinent written records are maintained that document all agreements relating to a project.  

Drive continuous improvement across departmental teams. 

Qualifications: 

8 years of Project Management in a technical environment.  

4 years experience in an engineering or certification environment.  

4 years commercial aircraft structural and/or electrical engineering experience.  

Demonstrable proficiency in MS Project and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).  

Prior experience with Configuration Management (CM), preferably Agile, as well as Smart Sheet, Share Point, and Project Web Access (PWA) applications.  

BS Engineering degree in a relevant field preferred  

Certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) or equivalent PM experience.  

Extensive practical knowledge of project management theory, concepts and principles (e.g., theory of constraints, critical path methodology, project risk management, triple constraints, project scope management, project management lifecycle, etc.).  

Ability to manage multiple projects in a high paced environment.  

Ability to travel ~35% (NA or internationally)  

Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills, critical thinker with excellent judgment and initiative.  

Superior communication skills with all levels of employees, both internal and external customers, including presentations, negotiations and written reports.
